Trans 333

The Trans 333 is a 333 kilometre, non-stop foot-race, held (in theory) in a different desert each year. It is ‘supported’ (ie competitors are not required to carry their equipment and food). Water, medical care and limited food are provided in the checkpoints, which are spaced approximately 20 kilometres apart and competitors are resupplied with their own food and equipment with a series of drop-bags.

Trans 333 2002

Trans 333 2006 is set for November. Destination to be announced. The price is expected to be around £1280 (ex Paris). There will probably be between 70 and 100 runners.

How Tough is it?

The Trans 333 is probably the toughest desert foot-race around at the moment. Competitors can expect to be out on the course, often on their own, both during the day and the night, for between 60 and 120 hours. With no recovery time (because it is a non-stop race), strains and blisters have no chance to heal. The failure rate in the Trans 333 is high. In 2000 only just over half of the 45 competitors managed to finish. In 2001 about a third of the 75 entrants failed to finish.
