Your training programme should consist of a series of stages that lead up to the finale, which is the event itself.
It is important to decide your objectives.
Do you have a particular race in mind?
When is it?
How much time do you have to prepare for it?
How many hours per week can you devote to training?
What skill sets are required?
What is your aim in this event?
a) To cross the finish line?
b) To finish well and be competitive?
What areas do you need to focus on?
The following 16 week training plan is broken down into 4 phases.
If you have more, or less time to train for a particular race, these can be adjusted accordingly.
The plan is for individuals who already follow a regular fitness regime.
